Nursey Decor and Design

So if you follow {k.p.d} on facebook then you know that the girl bedding design was the winner in my newest baby bedding line. SO I thought I would do a little post with some of the newest trends in the "baby decor" department....

I have to admit, that vintage, and shabby chic are my favorites for little girls. The are so sweet and simply delightful. When you sit holding your sweet baby in the antique rocking chair and have the lace curtains casting small shadows I can't help but let out a small {sigh}.

Now on the other hand... mod always interests me, I love the clean neutral look, the white walls and punches of colour.

{source}I love the textures, and the plushness (is that even a word) of todays nursery decor, it isn't the same crib, change table dresser. It is reporposed dressers which double as change tables and decor that has been passed down generations.

So now I ask... what is your favorite style? How would you decorate it???

To sew or not to sew? That is my question

So years ago I was taught by my amazing and wonderful 4-H member mother how to sew... (this woman is amazing... and she in seconds can see an outfit and make a pattern and then sew it buy the end of the day and it WILL look store bought... but me??? ) I have tried to sew things and they are okay but very well... lets call it "creative" and they just never look right... I will give you an example... I made this what I thought was a really cute pillow with lots of colours etc. and when we moved we got rid of lots of stuff I tried to take it to the local Value Village (a second hand clothing store) and they said they would not accept it... I was like really even as a cute give away? Maybe some person is out there thinking I wish that there was a round blue, yellow,red, green alien pillow and look they have one and now I found it... they guy laughed and said he doubted it... CRUSHED!

So after that I have found lots of little projects that I would like to attempt... I will post some of the ones I love and later will post what I chose...

A Cherry Blossom Princess Room....

So I have been planning a sweet little Shabby Chic bedroom for my daughter... after spending nights putting the spread sheet together with fabrics, artwork, paint and furniture I looked at it and at her and realized that while I was in love with it it didn't reflect my daughter who is a very bright, sweet but stubborn little girl... So I sat down with her and showed her lots pictures of everything from flowers to scenery... (I just used Google Images) and I found that she had a love for Cherry Blossom trees, and birds and princess'... So I kept the basics that I loved... the antique dresser, the bed etc... I even kept the colour that I loved of the room Princess Pearl by ICI Paints, I will do I know this sould like alot but a shabby chic, Princess Cherryblossom room.... hopefully it will work I have yet to see it done... but with a little luck and a few great buys with a little paint I can make this the room of her dreams... and one that she can keep for years to come... stay tuned for the pictures!!!!
